atha tapaso guṇatas traividhyaṃ vaktuṃ tasya śarīravāṅmanoniṣpādyatayā svarūpabhedaṃ tāvad āha
devadvijaguruprājñānāṃ pūjanam, śaucam tīrthasnānādikam, ārjavam yathāmanaḥśarīravṛttam, brahmacaryam yoṣitsu bhogyatābuddhiyuktekṣaṇādirahitatvam, ahiṃsā aprāṇipīḍā; etac charīraṃ tapa ucyate
tapasaḥ sāttvikādi-bhedaṃ darśayituṃ prathamaṃ tāvat śārīrādi-bhedena tasya traividhyam āha devety ādi tribhiḥ | tatra śārīram āha deveti | prājñā guru-vyaktiriktā anye ‚pi tattva-vidaḥ | deva-brāhmaṇādi-pūjanaṃ śaucādikaṃ ca śārīraṃ śarīra-nirvartyaṃ tapa ucyate
krama-prāptasya tapasaḥ sāttvikādi-bhedaṃ kathayituṃ śārīra-vācika-mānasa-bhedena tasya travidhyam āha tribhiḥ deveti | devā brahma-viṣṇu-śiva-sūryāgni-durgādayaḥ | dvijā dvijottamā brāhmaṇāḥ | guravaḥ pitṛ-mātr-ācāryādayaḥ | prājñāḥ paṇḍitāḥ vidita-veda-tad-upakaraṇārthāḥ | teṣāṃ pūjanaṃ praṇāma-śuśrūṣādi yathā-śāstraṃ | śaucaṃ mṛj-jalābhyāṃ śarīra-śodhanam | ārjavam akauṭilyaṃ bhāva-saṃśuddhi-śabdena mānase tapasi vakṣyati | śārīraṃ tv ārjavaṃ vihita-pratiṣiddhayor eka-rūpa-pravṛtti-nivṛtti-śālitvam | brahmacaryaṃ niṣiddha-maithuna-nivṛttiḥ | ahiṃsā-śāstrīya-prāṇi-pīḍanābhāvaḥ | ca-kārād asteyāparigrahāv api | śārīraṃ śarīra-pradhānaiḥ kartrādibhiḥ sādhyaṃ na tu kevalena śarīreṇa | pañcaite tasya hetava iti hi vakṣyati | itthaṃ śārīraṃ tapa ucyate
tapasas traividhyaṃ vadana prathamaṃ sāttvikasya tapasas traividhyam āha devety ādi tribhiḥ
krama-prāptasya tapasaḥ sāttvikādi-bhedaṃ vaktuṃ tasyādau śārīrādi-bhāvena traividhyam āha deveti tribhiḥ | devā vasu-rudrādayo dvijā brāhmaṇa-śreṣṭhā guravo mātṛ-pitṛ-deśikāḥ prājñā vidita-veda-vedāṅgāḥ pare ‚tra teṣāṃ pūjanam | śaucaṃ dvividham uktam | ārjavaṃ vihita-niṣiddhayor aikya-rūpyeṇa pravṛtti-nivṛttatvam | brahmacaryaṃ vihita-maithunaṃ ca | etac chārīraṃ śarīra-nirvartyaṃ tapaḥ
